What is .NET (pronounced: dot net)?
.NET is an application framework or "software platform". It's a language-neutral environment for writing programs that can easily and securely interoperate. Rather than targetting a particular hardware/OS combination, programs will instead target ".NET", and will run wherever .NET is implemented.
Microsoft began this ambitious program of developing this powerful development environment and infrastructure that interfaced strongly with the operating system and other PC/Server software. This effort has taken web development, database interaction and computing to a whole new level of power. Web pages and Windows applications can now do more than ever. Developers are no longer bound by many of the constraints that they previously had to deal with and can use the common IDE and libraries.
Alamo PC is committed to helping the San Antonio community leverage this environment. |
